Eileen Maher was born Eileen Neenan in 1950 in Brooklyn, New
York. The eldest of three children, her first introduction into
the Arts was piano lessons at the age of six. She subsequently
began experimenting with charcoal around the same time. The
attraction to paint and draw continued throughout her formative
years and exposure to different mediums was an appetizer for the
need to learn more.
Marriage and raising a family put any interests in art on hold
until her move to Florida ten years ago. Now free to experiment
again, new mediums such as wood on acrylic painted canvas
evolved.Enjoying the opportunity to paint again and the
diversity of the medium, her love of music emerges as a repeated
theme.
The rebirth of her artistic passion as well as her natural
inclination to develop untapped talent in others led to forming
art workshops for the neighborhood children in her home.
Her artwork can be viewed in local bistros and is frequently
exhibited at the Dunedin Art Festivals. Her work has been
privately commissioned by interior designers and new home
owners.
